I grew up in Virginia Beach and graduated from First Colonial High School. After college in Blacksburg, Peace Corps in Senegal, and work for the US Forest Service in Northern California, I settled in Suffolk, where I live on farm near the Great Dismal Swamp with my husband and a wiener dog named Ginger who loves to bark at everything that moves.
I received my MFA in Creative Writing from Spalding University in 2013 in Dublin, Ireland, during my capstone residency. Other residency locations included London, Barcelona, Italy, and Louisville, Kentucky, where the university is located.
I’m a member of Sisters in Crime, Hampton Roads Writers, and I’m a frequent student at The Muse Writers Center in Norfolk. I have some short stories in the world and I’m working on a novel set in Nansemond County and Suffolk just after the Civil War.
Publications include “Birdseed,” a short mystery story in the anthology, Virginia is for Mysteries, 2014 and “Death in the Great Dismal” in Virginia is for Mysteries Volume II, 2016.
